Top 99 Games
I have been crunching some numbers in regards to IGN's recent Top 99 Games list. Here is what I have found out.
Couple things I noticed when I was tallying everything. First of all almost all of the top xbox games have been ported to PC. Since the rule was exclusively on a system I could not count these. But if when I think about this it makes sense because Microsoft is not just in the console business they also wish to encourage people to use their operating system. If I can't play my favorite games on a mac then I am more likely to stick around. In a way I want to count PC games for Microsoft.
Secondly, Nintendo is the king of the handheld market. What really helped push up Nintendo's numbers were all the Game boy Advanced games on the list.
What does all this mean? I don't know you tell me. Feel free to blast the hell out of this.
- 33% of the top 99 games are exclusively on a Nintendo console.
- 20% of the top 99 games are exclusively on a Sony console.
- 5% of the top 99 games are exclusively on a Microsoft console.

PS3 Delayed in Europe
I just had to break my silence to post about this. Launch information is now out for the PS3 and it is absolutly hilarious.
Launch Units
Thats not all, PS3 is being delayed in europe until 2007.(Source)
bwahahahahahaah. hahahahahahaahah. hahahahahaha. ha.. ha..
It seems that Nintendo's best PR for the the wii comes directly from Sony. Lets see... 600$ and even if you wanted to spend the money you wont be able to get the console. Oh and lets not forget games will be costing between 59$ to 100$(Source). Sounds like sony is ready for a great launch! Forgive me for not being excited.
I am sure this is old but I find it highly entertaining. VIVA LA NINTENDO!

Progression
Today Sony is opening up two new everquest servers. These progression servers are about the players moving through the expansions of old. I personally am very excited and everyone can catch me on Sleeper once the server goes live. Still no verdict on my class/race I guess it will be dictated by my mood at launch. Good bye warcraft, an old lover calls me.
Happy questing!

Slashdot Comments and Nintendo
A anon comment I made on slashdot about Nintendo:
I think that in total numbers sold the Wii could end up being the most popular console ever.
There I fixed your sentence for you.
:) If Nintendo can keep up their momentum till launch they will be breaking sales figures all over the place. Nintendo finally has the right idea. Stop targeting the super small hardcore gamer market. Lets look at some recent system sales numbers coming out of japan [onnintendo.com]:
PSP: 24,457
DS+lite: 177,049
(5/15- 5/21)
With the release of such games like Brain Age and Nintendogs, Nintendo's sale figures have been going through the roof. There is a huge void out there of games for non gamers and Nintendo is being and will continue to be rewarded for filling it.
MS and Sony are welcome to throw a bunch of tech into their machines so they can churn out a couple million more polys per second, so the new GTA game can have more realistic gore. I am sure there are still people out there that are looking for exactly that. But if you are looking to drastically increase sales numbers... that is not the route to take. The people who bought your console/games last time may buy them again, but the people who passed your product up last gen will pass it again for the same reasons.

Sony caught with pants down
The craziness with the Sony DRM infested CDs just keeps getting more and more crazy. First of all the patch that Sony released did something very interesting. It allows any webpage the infected pc visits to run code. Yes I know very cute.
You can see a picture here that shows the spread of Sony's software.
Now if all this wasn't bad enough already, people are digging into the contents of the CDs and are finding that the DRM is shipping with LGPL software hidden behind .DAT files. You can read all about that on the link I provided. You would think that since Sony has taken such a strong stance against copyright infringement they would be more careful who they license to develop code. Hopefully someone who has contributed code to lame (one of the open source projects who's license is not being complied with) sues the pants of Sony. I doubt it will happen, but I can dream.
The Freedom to Tinker people are doing a very good job of covering this mess, so check there for a more in depth look at everything that has happened.
So Sony I am officially giving you a single digit salute, get your act together!
"CodeSupport remains on your system after you leave Sonys site, and it is marked as safe for scripting, so any Web page can ask CodeSupport to do things. One thing CodeSupport can be told to do is download and install code from an Internet site.

Sony to force updates with games
Some games are now going to be forcing firmware updates to version 1.50 (So you can still use homebrew if you want). Which ones? Dead to Rights: Reckoning, DUB Racing, and Coded Arms have all been said to not play without 1.5 firmware (There is a download on the UMD to update the firmware if you want to).(Forced Firmware Updates SONY PSP Handheld Games | Portagame)
Portagame then asks the question would I update for a awsome game the points to GTA. For the record GTA is not a awsome game. Updating means: you lose the ability to run homebrew code! How could the GTA60000 be worth the ability to run whatever code you want?
Not only that the updates that are out there dont really add anything. Mostly just attempts to stop people from running homebrew code. There has been no browser update or email or chat or whatever. It just fixing bugs.
Well, you can still use home brew with the 1.50 version. But I am sure Sony will continue to push versions with games.
So, to answer the question on portagame: No!
